Creative Spaces

As you know, Mom isn’t around this week; she’s participating in Stampin’ Up!’s Australia/New Zealand Convention in the Land Down Under. So I get the chance to be a guest blogger!

And I (Sara) get to blog about something I’m very excited about—my stamp space!

Most of you are probably familiar with Mom’s stamp studio—it’s been featured in a couple of different magazines in the past—and it’s a gorgeous room, perfect for spending hours relaxing, creating, and making wonderful memories. I love working with my mom in her stamp studio. But I also enjoy working in my own creative space. While it’s not quite as stunning as Mom’s, it’s more me, and I LOVE it!

Recently both Mom and I were invited to be part of Creating Keepsakes’ newest special issue, Creative Spaces.

This special issue of the scrapbooking world’s best-known magazine spotlights the creative spaces for some amazing crafters, many whose names you may recognize. As I looked through the pages, there were inspiring creative space ideas for all sizes of areas, as well as fun storage suggestions, great decorating tips, and lots of other interesting tidbits.

Both Mom and I were honored to be invited to participate—and motivated to take some action. Sean and I moved back to Utah almost two years ago, and while the rest of our house is unpacked, I still hadn’t finished the stamp room when I received the call. The photo shoot was the perfect excuse to get MY room decorated!

And, although Mom’s stamp studio is done, we all know that our creative spaces aren’t always in a state that we’d like others to see. In fact, well-visited creative spaces are usually plenty cluttered! So Mom’s photo shoot was the perfect excuse to get things straightened up.

I also enjoyed working with Megan Hoeppner, the creative editor, and the other amazing members of the Creating Keepsakes team.

Here’s a sneak peek of our spaces (a close-up from photos shown in the magazine), just enough to make you curious. (Nick Bayless shot my room; Symoni  Johnson shot Mom's.) You’ll definitely want to check out the entire issue, and Megan has graciously offered So Shelli blog readers a “free-shipping” deal. (Thanks, Megan!) You can find out more here. Be sure to use the coupon code “SPACESBB” for your free shipping; the coupon expires May 27.

What a wonderful special edition idea. I can't wait to go pick up my own edition! And of course, can't wait to see what you did for your own area - I just finished my area and LOVE it (just need some more Decor Elements on the walls to finish it off).

Oooh! How exciting. I am in the UK, but called last week to see if I could get this new publication shipped - and it is on the way. That is BEFORE I knew you and your lovely Mom were showing us your spaces!

Can't WAIT for it to arrive. There is something so inspiring about seeing different creative spaces. Somehow our own are always a work in progress.

Thanks so much for sharing the sneak peeks!
I can't wait to see your space in the issue, Shelli! I'm glad they included yours. :)

Thanks, Sara! I can't wait to see your spaces. LOVE the biscuit tins, btw! I have one that's been kickin' around my family for generations, but sadly rust has set in in a few spots. I took advantage of the free shipping offer, thanks for the code! This saves me a second and third visit to the bookstore...Spokane Valley might as well be on the back side of the moon, as fast as we get magazines here... ~Betsy Z, Spokane Valley, WA

Just an FYI - this offer does not include Canadian addresses. Canadians receive free shipping but are charged a Canadian address "fee" of $9.

I guess I'll just have to wait until it hits bookstores here!

Oh, I've GOT to get this issue! I buy a lot of the craft area organizing books and magazines to get ideas for my own (very, very cluttered) space. I will check to see if this is in the stores here. Thank you for sharing your spaces!

I found this special issue on the rack at Hobby Lobby so I didn't have to wait. I love the stampin' space I organized in the finished walkout basement of the new home we built last year, but I found tons of new ideas for improving it. Of course, Shelli's and Sara's spaces were among the very best!

Ordered mine! Can't wait to take a peek at the rooms. I really wanted to send in a video of my space becasue it need a major redo, but I didn't really know how to go about making a video and put it on a cd or whatever. Guess I'm video challenged. Oh well maybe I can get some ideas and fream anyway. Thanks for the free shipping on it which I took advantage of. Can't wait for convention!!!
